Housing in Ottawa: Built for People, Not Developers

I’ve built houses. I’ve hired trades. I’ve worked with real people who just want a fair shot at owning or renting a place they can afford. So when I hear politicians talk about housing like it’s an abstract problem, it drives me nuts.

Property Taxes: More Money, Less City

I’ve never met a working person who felt like they were getting great value for their property taxes right now. Taxes keep going up, and services keep getting cut. That’s not sustainable, and it’s not fair.

Who is Alex Lawson?

I’m a builder, and when things are broken, I get them fixed.

It isn’t a slogan; it’s a way of life.

I grew up in Heron Gate. A lot of people reading this will know what that means. Out of Ridgemont high school I got a job framing houses, and 18 years later I have a business that helps put food on the table for dozens of hard-working families. My wife works with me, and we provide a better life for our three kids than I ever imagined growing up.

I build homes and communities. I know how to listen, and it doesn’t matter to me where a good idea comes from. If it gets things fixed, it’s what I’m going to do.

Ottawa is a beautiful city. We’re all lucky to call it home. But we’ve been in decline for years and nothing is getting done. Experts have their place, but when it’s time to get things moving, we can’t just get bogged down with talk.
